Rigid construction with overload stops protection prevents damage to the weighing sensor for long standing durability and is backed with a 5 year limited manufacturer warranty. Simple 5 key operation allows you to turn on or off the scale, zero/tare the scale, switch weigh units, send weighing results to the optional AD-8121B printer and configure the balance. The color coded tactile-feel keys have clearly defined keys simplifies weighing operations.
What is the scale's TRUE readability in Legal for Trade mode? The EK-600i is 600g x 0.1g. Caveat Emptor many jewelry scales on the market might read to 0.1 gram, but are LFT only to 1 gram. A few examples include the Ohaus AX8201N/E, Mettler Toledo JS8001G/A Silver , Mettler JL6001-GE.
Other precious metal scales might read to 0.01g, but they are only LFT to 0.1g and offer very little weighing capacity. If the Weights & Measures Inspector know their job you should expect to weigh down to only what your scale has been approved for weighing. If you look at a CofC the inspector will only allow you to weigh to the the tolerances based on "e" not "d". The EK-600i offers 600 grams weighing capacity and the scale is LFT over the entire weighing range by 0.1 grams.
The EK-600i Compact Scale comes standard with RS-232C interface at no additional cost & Legal for Trade. Plus you can download a free copy of the A&D WinCt balance communication software. If you're shopping for a new compact scale, you'll find everything you need with the EKi Series from A&D Weighing. Light and portable the EKi Series is most suited for educational, R&D, pharmaceutical, and industrial applications.
When you're shopping for a legal for trade (LFT) scale compare the value the EK-600i offers over the competition.
How long is their factory warranty? The EK-600i is 5 years!!! Ohaus warranties their scales for only 2 years while Mettler Toledo gem scales are only 1 year.
Another factor to consider is how does one locked out the scale and put it into service as a Legal for Trade Scale. The A&D design is very simple and easy. A&D designed the scale with a removable door on the back of the scale that the Weights & Measures Inspector simply puts a wire through and crimps.
If you are selling or buying goods by weight you need a LFT scale in most states.
Capital Cash For Gold got a visit from Albany, New York Division of Weights and Measures and cited the gold buyer for using the wrong electronic scales and the owner faces fines up to $70,000. You can get in for using the wrong digital scale to buy precious metals. You can read more about what is legal for trade scales here.
A&D has built an amazing high quality strain gauge electronic scales that performs lightening fast. Unlike other manufacturer's that outsource their scale to the lowest cost manufacturer in China the EK600i is made in AND Weighing company owned and operated factory in Korea.
Haven't heard of A&D Weighing? They are the third largest manufacturer of laboratory balances and scales in the world. Corporate headquarters are based in Japan but US offices in California and Georgia. All EK-i electronic scales are backed with a 5 years manufacturer warranty making it the longest manufacturer warranty in the industry for a high quality lab balance.
Another selling point is AND Weighing fabulous product support. A&D Weighing has a dedicated product support line by calling 1-800-726-4940 6:00 am to 5:00 pm PST. Finally the A&D is simply to use and configure. The product manual is written for the average person to configure their scale verses having to spend $100's calling for scale company help you figure out how to use the weighing device.
Precision Weighing Balances has been an Authorized AND Weighing Distributor for over a decade. See the full line of EK-i balances at the bottom of this web page or click here.
If require a scale to weigh medical marijuana most states require you to weigh on a scale that is legal for trade to 0.01 grams (EK600i is NOT accurate enough). Some states like Colorado as of March 2016 accept "d" (value of scale division) to 0.01 grams and "e" (value of verification scale division) is 0.1 grams (Example A&D EK-610J, Mettler Toledo JL602-GE or Ohaus AX622N/E). Other states like Oregon and even Minnesota for weighing precious metals require "e" to 0.01 grams and this means you'll need to buy a weighing device were "d" equals 0.001g (Example A&D FX300iN , AND GF-200P or Ohaus AX423N/E). Always check with your particular requirements since State, County and City regulations have changed and enforcement is getting stricter. Just because a store down the street is using a particular model scale does not mean if you buy the same model they will allow you to use the scale since that store might fall under a grandfather clause under the old law.

Weighing equipment - The world runs on weights & measures. Almost everything you see & touch is weighed.
In this video we offer an overview of the A&D Weighing EK6100J and EK610J. The EK610J (600g x 0.01g) has the same display, same housing and operates very similar to the EK600i so we recommend you watch the video to gain more insight on the scale. There are some slight differences mainly the EK600i only reads to 0.1 gram while the EK610J increments in 0.01 gram increments.
Another difference is weighing platform size for the EK600i is rectangular measuring 5.2 x 6.7 inches, while the EK610J is a round 4.3 inch diameter platform. Both scales are Legal for Trade, NTEP Approved 6000d Class II Scales.
For the EK610J "d"(value of scale division) is 0.01 grams and the "e" (value of verification scale division) is 0.1 grams, while the EK600i "d" and "e" are both 0.1 grams. The EK-610J DOES NOT have a functional RS-232 serial interface so you can not connect the EK-610J scale to a computer or A&D printer, but you could with the EK-600i.
If you have no plans to connect the EK600i to a computer for data acquisition or the A&D 8121B printer the EK610J is a better buy for most people since you get greater accuracy than the EK-600i.
The EK600-i comes standard with an 120V AC Adapter. So you'll need to plug the scale into a power receptacle. What happens if you need to operate the scale and there is no electrical outlet available?
Well there is an answer to your dilemma, but it requires you to purchase the optional EKW-09i rechargeable battery pack. When fully charged you'll have approximately 9 hours of scale operating time. Watch the video above to see how to install the optional EKW-09i rechargeable battery pack. Installation is the same for the EK-600i.
Now you can add a layer of protection against accidental spills when mixing inks, dyes or other weighing application when a person's fingers might not always be clean. The optional protective cover (part number is AX:3005824-5S available in the optional accessories section) is chemically-resistant.
This form fitted clear transparent plastic cover in-use cover is easy to install on the EK-600i and other EK/EW models with the 5.2 x 6.7 inches rectangular platform requires you to remove the weighing pan support to install the clear plastic cover and this video shows how this is done.
The optional EJ-12 hard shell transport case features die cut foam specifically designed for holding AND Weighing EK-600i digital scale. This carrying scale is convenient for transporting the digital scale or just storing your scale when not in use to lessen the chance of damage to the precision measurement weigh sensor. Whether the scale is turned On or Off if one applies an excessive load or shocks the platform you can permanently damage any scale. The optional EJ-12 case is a low cost scale insurance policy to protect your scale.
