If you're going to have a gold party, or if you'd like to buy and sell gold, silver or other precious metals, there are several essential items you'll need. One of them is a jewelry scale like a Mettler Legal for Trade Digital Scale. Weigh up to 6100 gram x 0.1 grams with a Mettler Toledo JL6001-G/LA01. NTEP mode features a less precise readability with 1 gram increments. There is a parts counting feature but note since the scale is LFT the smallest part you can count is 30d, which means 3 grams. If you try to count parts less than 3g the scale will display an error code.
The biggest selling point for the
Mettler Toledo's JL6001-G/LA00 other than the prominent Mettler-Toledo name is this scale operates on either AC Adapter of four (4) AA batteries.
If you are unable to follow instructions you should plan on calling a local scale company and expect to pay around $300 for the service call. Configuring a scale is not a warranty issue so any service call is something you need to pay for out of your pocket. The A&D EK-1200i is much easier to calibrate and configure and we also have a video on the EK1200i here for you to see for yourself.
So if you need a digital scale that works off standard batteries the JL6001-G/LA01 is the choice. If you will be plugging the scale into a power receptacle you probable should look at the A&D EK-1200. Plus the EK-1200i costs less money, has a 5 year warranty and easier to use.
If you are weighing smaller quantities then be sure to review the Mettler JL602-G/LA01 since you will lose weighing capacity but gain greater weighing accuracy.
Watch how the Mettler JL602 scale is configured. If you have problems following instructions we DO NOT recommend the JL6001 scale for you unless you plan on hiring a scale company to setup the scale. The EK-1200i is a lot easier Class II scale to calibrate and configure.
The video above is for the JL-602-G/LA01 but the JL6001-G/LA01 is very similar except for the platform size, weighing capacity & readability and the JL6001-G/LA01 comes with one(1) 500g calibration weights.

Although the JL6001-GLA01 scale is legal for trade, if you plan on doing something like selling jewelry directly to customers in your store, then you are required by weights and measures to have a secondary display that the customer can see in real time. Another example might be if you've ever bought meat from a grocery store, you know that when the butcher weighs out the meat, you and the butcher both have separate displays as the meat is weighed. This scale is legal for trade, but it is NOT "legal for direct sales" unless you buy the Remote display with backlight, cable length 6 feet for $99.00. FOR THE REMOTE DISPLAY, YOU MUST HAVE A METTLER SCALE WITH AN RS-232 INTERFACE.
