Rugged ABS housing, heavy duty load cell, 4 adjustable feet, removable stainless steel weigh platform, multiple weighing modes, RS232 interface. Bright backlit display makes viewing fast & easy in any lighting. You can program the backlit to always be ON, always OFF, or when a weight is applied to the weighing platform the backlit automatically turns ON. Changing weigh modes by simply pressing the "UNIT" keypad and you have the choice of 13 different weigh modes - grams, ounces, pounds, and many more weigh modes.
Another weighing function is percent weighing also sometimes called formulation weighing. This is were you use a reference weight for the final product and the ingredients are given in percentage. This weighing methodology is used in formulating everything from food, drugs and even ink. For example print shops and silk screen printers can't stock every imaginable color their clients want for advertising brochures, posters or in the case of the silk screen printer artwork screened on to T-shirts. They mix the ink from typically 4-14 basic pigment colors using a Pantone color chart.
For example if they had a job requiring Pantone 5645U the formula using percentages is 2.3% Pantone Yellow, 2.3% Pantone Reflex Blue, 1.7% Pantone Black and 93.7% Trans White. If you needed five(5) pounds of ink to complete the job you would set the scale in percent weight, then place a 5 lb weight on the platform and it would be stored as 100%. Now remove the 5 lb reference from the platform and the display read 0%. Place a container on the scale and press tare to zero the weight of the container and the scale should still read 0.%. Now pour in
the container Pantone Yellow until the display reads 2.3%. Again press the tare button to zero the scale so the display shows 0%. Repeat the same process for the other base colors - pour in the container Pantone Reflex Blue until the display reads 2.3%. Again press the tare button to zero the scale so the display shows 0% - pour in the container Pantone Black until the display reads 1.7%. Again press the tare button to zero the scale so the display shows 0% - pour in the container Pantone Trans White until the display reads 93.7%. You now have five(5) pounds of Pantone 5645U. The same process could be used to formulate cosmetics, soaps, even herbal medicines.
This compact electronic digital scale comes standard with AC adapter included and also operates on 6 AA batteries (batteries not included). The scale has 4 adjustable feet for easy leveling. Another added feature is the RS 232 interface which is standard, while most comparable scales in this category from other manufacturer like Ohaus SP6001 and AND Weighing EJ6100 have the RS-232 interface as a costly accessory.
Yes, the EPB-6K is a generic brand direct from Asia, but this is where 99% of the portable electronic scales are made now a days. Asia has advanced dramatically over the years in technology and quality. We decided to market this generic brand since we believe the motto "if you can't tell the difference why pay the difference".
Calibration is easy but it does require you to purchase or already have calibration weights. Again calibration weights are NOT INCLUDED and we really highly recommend you calibrate the digital scale on a regular basis. You do have the ability to configure the digital scale to use any weight up to the weighing capacity of the scale, but we recommend a minimum of 50% of the balance's weighing capacity - therefore 3000 grams or greater.
The EPB-6K is truly a value oriented product designed for the school science classroom, hobbyist, or light industrial weighing applications. Choose from over 10 different models in the EPB Series HERE.
We made a special purchase on the AND EK6100J which is Legal for Trade while the EPB-6K is NOT Legal for Trade. Our huge purchase of the A&D EK6100J allows us to sell the EK-6100J at a HUGE DISCOUNT while supplies last. So take a look at the A&D Weighing EK6100J before you make your final selection.

Large removable stainless steel weigh pan for easy clean up. The scale design incorporates a 4 post platform for better weighing results especially with corner weighing. Many other brands are designed with only a single post in the center resulting in greater eccentric weighing errors. You can determine how much the eccentricity of the load will affect the weighing results on the scale by weighing the same weight at the corners of the weighing platform. The 4 post design has a greater manufacturing cost and this is why many of the major brands of scale manufacturers cut corners to maximize their profits while diminishing your accurate weighing results.
In the YouTube video below shows you how easy calibration is performed. Calibration weights are NOT included with the scale and must be purchased SEPARATELY.
The EPB is one of the few scales on the market that allows you to use any size calibration weight within the weighing range of the digital scale. We always recommend you calibrate the scale with a weight at least 50% of the weighing capacity for accurate weighing results over the full weighing range. So for the EPB10K you should use at least a 5kg weight, for the EPB6K at least 3kg and EPB3K at least 1500g, but if all you have was a 1kg mass you could calibration the EBP scale.
