Weigh semi-precious stones or pharmacy compounding applications. Many states require pharmacies that are compounding specialty drugs to only weigh on a legal for trade balance. Balance requirements vary from state to state. The requirements are dictated with each state's pharmacy law and regulations. Determining the requirements involves perusing each state's pharmacy law and regulations to determine the requirements. Precision Weighing Balances suggests contacting the agency that authorizes your pharmacy license for approval of this balance prior to making the purchase. Although this balances is approved on a national level as a pharmacy balance, state and local agency may supersede with their own regulations. It is the purchaser's responsible to verify using the above balance is in compliance with your pharmacy license requirements.
When the Department of Agriculture Weights and Measures division tells you need a NTEP Class II balance that has a verification scale division of 0.01 gram the AX223N/E meets the requirement. When the Adventurer AX223N/E is first installed, or is moved to another location, the lab balance must be calibrated to ensure accurate weighing results. The Ohaus AX223N/E requires the purchase of a optional external 200 gram calibration weight to perform calibration. We always recommend that you purchase the calibration weight when you purchase the balance. You can learn more about calibration weights, class weights and the tolerances at calibrationweight.com
The Adventurer has a level bubble in a small round window beside the display. To level the balance, adjust the 4 leveling feet until the bubble is centered in the circle. The Ohaus Adventurer AX even has a level assist function where the display shows examples of images and which feet to adjust depending on the location of the level bubble until the bubble is centered. All NTEP Approved precision weighing balances must have a level bubble and adjustable feet since your balance must be leveled each time its moved to insure accurate weighing results.
The display features include a weighing capacity bar guide that will show the current weight as a percentage of balance capacity. A real-time clock function keeps accurate time even during power loss and the GLP data capability has the ability to record Sample name, Project names and Balance ID's to help meet traceability and compliance requirements.
Additional attributes include RS232 interface, integral weigh below hook, full housing in-use cover, removable stainless steel pan, die-cast metal bottom housing, security bracket, illuminated up-front level indicator, four adjustable feet, software lockout menus, stability indicator, software overload/underload indicators, user selectable environmental settings, audible indicator, user selectable brightness settings, auto dim, touchscreen calibration, auto tare, user selectable operating language.

Color touchscreen offers easy and fast operation of Adventurer's weighing applications. Operate and access Adventurer's nine weighing application modes and abundant features that eliminate the need to do several manual calculations through the modern color touchscreen. Operators can wear laboratory gloves while utilizing the touchscreen, eliminating the inconvenience and hazards associated with constantly putting on and removing gloves. In addition to the touchscreen, Adventurer also has six mechanical keys that provide tactile feedback and allow the operator to perform repetitive operations such as tare, zero, calibration, and print.
Ohaus Adventurer AX milligram balances delivers weighing performance with stable and reliable weighing results for routine weighing tasks. The AX milligram balances have a 5.1" diameter platform while the analytical models have a smaller 3.5" round weighing pan. The fast stabilization time improves productivity in the laboratory. External calibration allows the operator to manually calibrate the balance with a choice of calibration weight values to ensure accuracy. External calibration does require you to purchase the optional calibration weight.
Space-saving draftshield improves user experience and accessibility. The two piece, top-mounted draftshield doors open wide on both sides, providing ample room for sample placement, and also reduce the footprint of the draftshield in the rear of the balance when open.
Wide door entry provides unobstructed access and allows larger weighing vessels to be easily placed on the pan, reducing the chance of accidental spillage
The bottom side of the Ohaus Adventurer has 4 adjustable leveling feet. The black removable protective cover is the weigh below underhook opening. Shown below is a close-up of the cover removed.
The Adventurer balance is equipped with a weigh below hook for weighing below the balance. Before turning the balance over, remove the pan and draft shield components to prevent damage. To use this feature, remove power from the balance, then remove the protective cover for the weigh below opening. The balance can be supported using lab jacks or any other convenient method. Ensure the balance is level and secure. Power on the balance, then use a string or wire to attach items to be weighed. Below weighing is used for weighing magnetic materials, large samples that won't fix on the weighing platform or extremely hot or cold sample that would effect the balance's electronics if placed directly on the weighing platform due to thermal heat/cold transfer. Additional applications would be specific gravity determination.
The front USB is used to connect a USB flash driver only. The weighing data can be saved to USB every day. The density determination and check weighing applications do not have a Save to USB button.
Setting up multiple balances is simple by exporting the profile from a master balance via a USB drive. The data maintenance tool allows you to save user and application settings to a USB, which can be easily transferred to other Adventurer balances. The data can then be used to configure additional Adventurer balances with the data imported from original balance. Two types of data can be exported Application settings (APW, Ref. weight and etc.) and Menu settings (balance setup function and etc.)
Adventurer base housing dimensions are 13.93" x 13.39" x 9.05" (W×H×D)
