Save a barrel of cash on this demo unit. The MA100C moisture
balance meets the manufacturer specifications and is calibrated by factory trained
Sartorius technician prior to shipping to you. The balances has all the
original packing material and operation manual, but the box will show signs
that it was shipped around for before as a demonstrations unit. The balance
and weigh pan has some small scratches that shows cosmetically that the unit
is not brand new, but the balance will perform as a brand new unit. Sartorius
classifies this balance as DQE - Demo Quality Excellent. Demo balances
carry a limited 12 month manufacturer warranty while new unit have a 3 year
warranty.
Sartorius MA100C Moisture Analyzer features a Ceramic IR heating element
and readability to 0.001% or 0.0001 grams. The advantages of a Ceramic
element is that it can rapidly attains the final temperature to ensure a uniform
distribution of infrared rays over the entire sample surface, thus eliminating
localized burning. Flexible for use in research, development and quality
control and designed for years of use in demanding production environments.
Other innovations include integration of the heat source into the chamber cover.
The motorized heating unit opens and shuts at the touch of a key eliminating
the need to use a hood (models designed with a hood include A&D
MX-50/MF-50 moisture balance, the Mettler Toledo HB43, Ohaus
MB35/MB45 moisture analyzer, Sartorius
MA45 to name a few). This motorized system minimizes handling of the
sample, speeding up the process and thereby preventing predrying during weigh-in.
The motorized heat source also reduces exposure of the weighing mechanism to
mechanical vibration.
The MA100C Moisture Analyzer can be purchase with an optional data printer
integrated into the analyzer housing to meet ISO/GLP requirements.
Other Sartorius innovations found in the MA100C include "ASAP" mode:
automatic (endpoint) searching/automatic programming for quick determination
of the drying parameters and easy programming of a drying routine; Fast and
easy control of the accuracy through DIN/ISO-compliant self-testing and self-calibrating
capabilities thanks to the built-in calibration weight with reproTEST function;
and more. Review additional technical data on the Sartorius

The display
is divided into section providing clear information of the operation running.
The top of the display shows the drying program and test function in process.
Infrared
rays penetrate the sample without being impeded. Having reached
the interior of a sample, they are converted into heat energy, which
stimulates evapaoration, thus drying the sample.

Warning
- Moisture balancesshould not be used on any volatile organic sample with flash
points. Even a MSDS rating of 1. Samples with low flask
points like Acetaldehyde -38°C or MEK -4°C should not be used
with the Sartorius MA-100C Moisture Balance and maybe you should look
at Karl Fisher as an alternative.
Although you might presently perform analysis with an oven on these
samples the ovens typically have ventilation and a much larger cavity
than the typical moisture balance that operates on the principles of
TGA. In addition, with most moisture balances there is no ventilation
so all the fumes remain inside the hood of the moisture balance.
We strongly recommend you consult with a safety
specialist always prior to using any moisture balances for your safety.
