The EK-6000i Compact Scale comes standard with RS-232C interface at no additional cost & Legal for Trade. Plus you can download a free copy of the A&D WinCt balance communication software. If you're shopping for a new compact scale, you'll find everything you need with the EKi Series from A&D Weighing. Light and portable the EKi Series is most suited for educational, R&D, pharmaceutical, and industrial applications.
Haven't heard of A&D Weighing? They are the third largest manufacturer of laboratory balances and scales in the world. Corporate headquarters are based in Japan but US offices in California and Georgia. A&D has built an amazing high quality strain gauge electronic scales that performs lightening fast. Unlike other manufacturer's that outsource their scale to the lowest cost manufacturer in China the EK6000i is made in AND Weighing company owned and operated factory in Korea.
When the EK-6000i digital balance is first installed it should be calibrated to ensure accurate weighing results. We offer a full line of optional calibration weights including the recommended 5000g calibration weight for the EK6000i. Every location in the world is positioned differently to "magnetic north" and therefore the acceleration of gravity is slightly different.
Additional applications for the EK6000i would be for weighing large quantities of gold and silver - 50 ounces and need an affordable priced legal for trade scale. If you watch the popular Discovery Channel "Gold Rush" in Season 6 you'll see Todd Hoffman, Parker Schnabel and Tony Beets team using an A&D EK Series digital scale to weigh their gold after many clean outs on the show.
Finally, the best selling point is AND Weighing fabulous product support. A&D Weighing has a dedicated product support line by calling 1-800-726-4940 6:00 am to 5:00 pm PST. Finally the A&D is simply to use and configure. The product manual is written for the average person to configure their scale verses having to spend $100's calling for scale company help you figure out how to use the weighing device.

What is a weighing underhook and how is the underhook installed and used with a digital electronic scale? We hope the video above will answer all those questions.
The optional EKW-07i weigh below weighing underhook only works with EK6100J, EK6000i, EK6100i, EK4100i, EK12Ki and EW-12Ki models. The underhook is installed on the bottom of the scale by removing the beneath weighing port cover and screwing the optional EKW-07i underhook assembly into the threaded mounting hole.
By attaching the underhook to the bottom of the balance, large objects that would be difficult to load on the weighing pan can be weighed. Also, since electronic scales are affected by temperate and magnetism sample being weighed that are hot, cold and magnetic items should always be weighed using the below weighing underhook.
In addition, the density (specific gravity) of objects may be calculate by weighing a sample in air and then in weighing the same sample submerge in water or other liquids.
In the video above we unbox the A&D Weighing EK6100J and show you what comes with the scale and discuss some of the available accessories. We also review the features of the scale, how it operates and how to calibrate the EK scale. Many of the topics discussed are applicable to the EK-6000i so it is a video we recommend you watch to better understand the functionality, capabilities and operation of the EK Series electronic scales.
Weighing equipment - The world runs on weights & measures. Almost everything you see & touch is weighed.
In this video we offer an overview of the A&D Weighing EK6100J and EK610J. The EK6100J (6000g x 0.1g) has the same display, same housing and operates very similar to the EK6000i so we recommend you watch the video to gain more insight on the scale. There are some slight differences mainly the EK6000i only reads to 1 gram while the EK6100J increments in 0.1 gram increments.
Both the EK6000i and EK6100J have a 5.2 x 6.7 inches rectangular weighing platform and both scales are Legal for Trade and NTEP Approved Class II Scales.
For the EK6100J the maximum weighing capacity is 6000 grams and "d"(value of scale division) is 0.1 grams and the "e" (value of verification scale division) is 1 grams, while the EK6000i "d" and "e" are both 1 gram. The EK-6100J DOES NOT have a functional RS-232 serial interface so you can not connect the EK-6100J scale to a computer or A&D printer, but you could with the EK-6000i.
If you have no plans to connect the EK6000i to a computer for data acquisition or the A&D 8121B printer the EK6100J is a better buy for most people since you get greater accuracy than the EK-6000i.
The EK6000-i comes standard with an 120V AC Adapter. So you'll need to plug the scale into a power receptacle. What happens if you need to operate the scale and there is no electrical outlet available?
Well there is an answer to your dilemma, but it requires you to purchase the optional EKW-09i rechargeable battery pack. When fully charged you'll have approximately 9 hours of scale operating time. Watch the video above to see how to install the optional EKW-09i rechargeable battery pack. Installation is the same for the EK-6000i.
Now you can add a layer of protection against accidental spills when mixing inks, dyes or other weighing application when a person's fingers might not always be clean. The optional protective cover (part number is AX:3005824-5S available in the optional accessories section) is chemically-resistant.
This form fitted clear transparent plastic cover in-use cover is easy to install on the EK-6000i and other EK/EW models with the 5.2 x 6.7 inches rectangular platform requires you to remove the weighing pan support to install the clear plastic cover and this video shows how this is done.
The optional EJ-12 hard shell transport case features die cut foam specifically designed for holding AND Weighing EK-6000i digital scale. This carrying scale is convenient for transporting the digital scale or just storing your scale when not in use to lessen the chance of damage to the precision measurement weigh sensor. Whether the scale is turned On or Off if one applies an excessive load or shocks the platform you can permanently damage any scale. The optional EJ-12 case is a low cost scale insurance policy to protect your scale.
