Healthometer has no more stock on the 498KL and the scale is on an indefinite back order with no release date according to Health-o-meter. Possible alternative models to consider would be the Healthometer 349KLX or the 752KL. Again there is no stock on the Health-o-meter 498KL and since they are telling us "indefinite back order with no release date" it sounds more like Healthometer is discontinuing the 498KL.
Healthometer 498KL Remote Display Digital Floor Scale offers a huge 500 pounds weighing capacity and increments in 0.2 pounds intervals. So if you weigh 375 lbs and you are purchase a scale to monitor the progress of your weight loss and diet program and all things are going well the scale will display 375.0 lbs, 374.8 lbs, 374.6 lbs, 374.4 lbs, 374.2 lbs, 374.0 lbs. The point we are trying to demonstrate is the scale increments in 0.2 pound graduations and that you will never see the scale weigh to the 1/4 or 1/2 pound since this scale offers better readability to 0.2 pounds.
Another huge feature of the Health-o-meter 498KL digital weight loss scale is the large 14" x 17.75" weighing platform. Most of the scales found in the department stores have tiny weighing platforms and people that are big have difficulty stepping on the weighing platform. Since the 498KL is 14" x 17 3/4" we doubt you will have any trouble standing on the weighing pan.
The Health O Meter 498KL operates on 6 AA batteries included or if you purchase the OPTIONAL ADPT31 AC Adapter allowing you to plug the scale into a power outlet. Again the AC Adapter does not come with the scale and if you scroll down on the web page you can purchase the optional AC Adapter for an additional $37.00.
Healthometer 498KL comes remote head mounting bracket. The remote head can be mounted to a wall up to 6 feet from the base using the display bracket (included) or it can be mounted on a table up to 6 feet from the base.
Health-o-meter 498KL personal weigher is one of our most affordable 500 pound scales and includes advanced features like BMI mode (body mass index), hold function (the stable weight will
continue to be display until the hold function is cancelled) and auto off function that can be enable and disabled (as an energy saving feature, the scale will automatically turn off after 2 minutes of inactivity).

PLEASE NOTE Transferring the weight of the patient to a computer requires serial communications software that needs to be installed on a computer and does not come with the scale. If you don't have EMR you could purchase WinWedge 32 Standard RS232 software allowing you to export patient's weight into an Excel spreadsheet for ease of documentation.
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) technology is supported by 498KL medical scales from Healthometer, but the EMR software itself is not included, and requires a specialist to configure. Precision Weighing Balances cannot offer these setup services. It is the responsibility of your own facility to hire a 3rd party consultant, or have an in-house professional perform the installation. Software setup is too complicated for the average computer user to install.
