This analytical balance weighs up to 100 grams with readability to 0.0001 gram - Yes that is four decimal places and it is made in the USA. This balance was a demo unit used for trade show in demonstrations. The balance meets the manufacturer specifications and is calibrated by factory trained Sartorius technician prior to shipping to you. The balance has all the original packing material and operation manual, but the box will show signs that it was shipped around for before as a demonstrations unit. This balance is spotless and to most people they would think it is brand new, but the analytical balance was used once at a recent tradeshow we attended. Sartorius classifies this laboratory balance as DQE - Demo Quality Excellent. Demo balances carry a limited 12 month manufacturer warranty while new unit would have a 3 year warranty.

This digital balance comes with a 100 gram ASTM class 1 calibration weight, dust cover and RS-232 interface for connection to a computer or optional Sartorius printer. Only the Sartorius GD-503 comes standard with these items while competitive models will charge lots of $$ for these accessories.

Innovative high-grade draft shield with low profile design resulting in less bench space compared to conventional analytical balances (height from pan to top of glass door is only 5.23 inch).  Draft shield offers 3 sliding doors that slide open quietly and effortlessly.		Leveling the balance with the 2 front adjustable feet is a breeze.  The identification badge is located on the left side of the GD503 Class II NTEP Approved Balance in accordance to National Conference on Weights and Measures.

Bottom side of GD503 balance shows the two front adjustable feet and tamper evident sticker across access plate and the balance housing.		When the balance is used in legal metrology (a.k.a NTEP mode) external calibration is blocked by a seal over the access plate.
In accordance with weights and measures regulation the balance must be sealed to prevent tampering and re-calibration once the balance is placed in service.  To prevent access to the calibration switch a tamper evident seal is placed across the access plate and bottom housing. The Weights and Measures Inspector will place this seal on the balance once the inspector has tested the balance and places the balance in service as a legal for trade device.
Handbook 44 requires the identification badge specify the model number, serial number, "d" - display division, "e" - verification scale interval and the National Type Evaluation Program Certificate of Conformance (NTEP CC)
