Unlike the Sartorius AY Series which operated on standard alkaline batteries the Sartorius Practum does require you to purchase the expensive $590 OPTIONAL YRB11Z External battery pack if you plan on using the scale in the field were AC power is not available. All Sartorius Practum balances operate on AC adapter.
Whether you need to weigh in laboratories, vocational training facilities or classrooms with a Sartorius Practum® series balance you'll always have just the right equipment.

For most weighing applications the Sartorius Practum 5100-1S has the features you need, but if you are not sure call the experts at Precision Weighing Balances to review your weighing application. We also offer the Quintx, Secura and Cubis series all from Sartorius with even more features than the Practum.
The Practum 5100-1S is targeted for the laboratory and is a large digital scale. The Practum is really not a portable field scale. For those clients looking to spend less digital scale without all the sophisticated features and able to run off of standard batteries we you might one to consider the AND SK5001WP or Ohaus SPX8200 scale.
For a limited time we are offering Free shipping via UPS Ground in the lower 48 states for the Sartorius Practum 5100-1S.

In the YouTube video above we cover the "Weighing" mode and the different configurations choices. Learn more about the "zero" & "tare" icon on the touchscreen display. We'll show you how simple it is to change the weight unit (g > oz > dwt > lb etc) and how you can drop the last significant digit to increase even faster stable weighing results. Although the laboratory balance we use for this demonstration is the Sartorius Secura225D-1S semi microbalance the weighing functionality is the same for all the Practum, Quintix and Secura models.
When you purchase the Sartorius Practum precision scales with 1 gram, 0.1 gram or 0.01 gram readability you have a large weighing platform measuring 180 mm or 7.0 inches in diameter.
Sartorius Practum balances come with the Universal DC Power Adapter (Sartorius part # 6971790 includes 6 different power plug adapters for use in the USA, Europe, UK, Australia, India, and South Africa), Quick Start Guide, Installation & Operating Instruction Manual & a single form fitted clear transparent plastic in-use cover.
Setting up this digital scale is easy - Install the shield disk and turn this counterclockwise until it is securely in place. Next place the pan support, weighing pan and level the balance using the two[2] leveling feet.
There is a port for a below-balance weighing located on the bottom of the balance. To use the underhook - lift cover plate from the bottom of the balance and attach a wire to the sample and hang it on the notched hook.
Plugging the AC adapter and turn on the balance you'll see the power-up display, then you see the "leveling" screen to remind you to the scale. The balance must be level to ensure precise weighing results. Leveling the balance compensates for slant or unevenness at the place of installation by twisting the front leveling feet of the balance.
Laboratories in the science classroom or quality control department looking for a nice electronic scale the Sartorius Practum Series could be your perfect choice.
