Use the scale as a bathroom scale as your child grows.  Both the Tanita 1583 and My Weigh MBS 2010 feature removable baskets, but only My Weigh features a detachable indicator. The problem with the Tanita is the display is upside down if your child is standing on the platform.  The My Weigh detachable indicator even comes with wall mounting screws. The MBS2010 has many uses other than weighing babies.  Some people use the scale to weigh puppies, cats, reptile, and other small animals.  Another application is using the MBS2010 as a low cost bench scale for shipping applications.
