The Ohaus SP4001 is a great digital scale, but we do get calls from people saying they want to buy an American made digital scale (yep, the Ohaus SP4001 is made in China) and we do have one available that is made in the USA - the Acculab VIC-5101. Acculab is part of the Sartorius Group and the Acculab VIC-5101 is assembled at the Sartorius North America Inc., Mechatronics Division in Arvada, Colorado. The Acculab VIC-5101 (5100g x 0.1g) offers similar specifications as the Ohaus SP4001 and we have the Acculab VIC-5101 priced for less money than the Ohaus SP4001.
If price is absolutely the #1 issue and you are in search of the lowest cost 0.1g digital scales then we have a couple of other digital scales that are made in China. These gram scales do not have all the bells and whistles included in an
Ohaus SP4001, but the price is much less. For our customers seeking a simplified digital portable scale, with less features we recommend the My Weigh's i5500 (5500g x 0.1g) or EPB-6K Electronic Scale (6,000g x 0.1g) that are priced less than the Ohaus SP4001. Selecting any of these digital scales you can get much more weighing capacity for less $$$.
If you are a jeweler or pawn shop and were told by a Weights & Measures Inspector that you need a Legal for Trade Class II Scale the Ohaus SP4001 is NOT Legal for Trade and we recommend you purchase the A&D EK-1200i or Mettler Toledo JL5001-GA03 digital scale.

Before
you make your final selection consider the best - Sartorius.
The Sartorius
GE Series offers the very best in strain
gauge technology. Not all scales are created equally.
Sartorius uses the highest quality loadcell resulting in better performance
and less
drift. Each loadcell is gauged in Germany using the highest
quality adhesive to bond the strain gauge to the aluminum beam in a
temperature control environment. You do pay more for Sartorius,
but you always will when you want to weigh the best.
