One of them is a jewelry scale like a Mettler Legal for Trade Digital Scale. Weigh up to 6100 gram x 0.1 grams with a Mettler Toledo JL6001-G/LA01. NTEP mode features a less precise readability with 1 gram increments. There is a parts counting feature but note since the scale is LFT the smallest part you can count is 30d, which means 3 grams. If you try to count parts less than 3g the scale will display an error code.

The biggest selling point for the Mettler Toledo's JL6001-G/LA00 other than the prominent Mettler-Toledo name is this scale operates on either AC Adapter of four (4) AA batteries. We get numerous complaints from customers that buy the A&D EK-1200i since the A&D does not run off of standard batteries, but instead you must buy A&D special NiMH Battery Pack for an addition $160.00. Yep it is crazy in a day when you can go buy 4 - AA NiMH rechargeable batteries at Walmart for under $20 A&D designs their scale so you can only use their $160 NiMH Battery Pack.

If you are always going to plug your scale into a power receptacle you might want to select the EK-1200i since we get a lot of phone calls from people unable to follow the instructions of the JL6001-G/LA01 and configuring the scale. Please watch our video below "How to calibrate Mettler Toledo JL-602 (the JL6001 and JL602 have the same steps for calibration just different weights are used)" and this will give you an idea what you need to do to configure the scale. The EK1200i is much, much easier to calibrate and configure. While the JL-6001-G/LA01 displays to 0.1g the JL6001 is only approved for 1g. The EK1200i is approved for 0.1g and weighs up to 1200g.

If you are unable to follow instructions you should plan on calling a local scale company and expect to pay around $300 for the service call. Configuring a scale is not a warranty issue so any service call is something you need to pay for out of your pocket. The A&D EK-1200i is much easier to calibrate and configure and we also have a video on the EK1200i here for you to see for yourself.

So if you need a digital scale that works off standard batteries the JL6001-G/LA01 is the choice. If you will be plugging the scale into a power receptacle you probable should look at the A&D EK-1200. Plus the EK-1200i costs less money, has a 5 year warranty and easier to use.

If you are weighing smaller quantities then be sure to review the Mettler JL602-G/LA01 since you will lose weighing capacity but gain greater weighing accuracy.
