Background of the new KD-7000 series In 1999 MyWeigh introduced the original KD-600 series scales.  They were a huge success and Myweigh sold more than 100,000 units during their production.  However there were some design issues with the original scale and many improvements were requested by consumers.  Thus MyWeigh set out to design a new model.  They improved the digital scale to add all of the features and innovations that customers had asked over the years. First MyWeigh applied "Basic" improvements by building our own software program and IC chips with advanced functions.  My Weigh added many advanced features including: An adjustable or disable-able auto off feature.   This is very important to consumers because there are times that you may want to use your scale continuously for a long period of time.  If the scale was turning itself off every 5 minutes (for example), this could really interfere with your work.  Other times you might want to conserve power and have the scale turn off automatically after 1 minute of use. An adjustable audible beep function.   Some people want to hear a "beep" whenever they press a button as confirmation.  Other people get very annoyed by this and want the electronic weighing scale to remain silent.  Thus MyWeigh made a beep function with an electronic on/off feature.  There is a simple switch at the back of the scale to control the beep function. An adjustable backlight time.   When you turn on the backlight of your table top scale - do you want it to remain on indefinitely - or would you like it to turn off after 30 seconds to conserve power?  With the KD-7000 you can decide how long the backlight should stay on for. A HOLD feature.   Scale users often asked to add a HOLD feature to MyWeigh scales.  People complained that they would put an oversized box on the scale and couldn't read the display.  So, My Weigh added a HOLD feature that holds the weight of an item on the display (simply put the box on the scale and press HOLD, then you can remove the box and see what the weight was on the display). A removable acrylic faceplate protector and splash guard.   Many users of digital weighing scales often damage or destroy their scale by accidentally dripping foods, chemicals or solvents onto the faceplate of the scale.  This either stains or damages the LCD and keypad.  To prevent this MyWeigh invented a new acrylic protective cover that lifts up to allow usage of the buttons.  While the cover is lifted up, spills will run into a channel that MyWeigh's scale engineers designed, rather then falling onto the LCD or buttons.  This cover is 100% removable for people that don't want to use it or don't require it. The next improvement was in the area of Modes.  Customers had specific needs, and needed to accommodate every postal / shipping company.  Thus MyWeigh made the new KD7000 read in Pounds:Ounces, Pounds, Straight Ounces, Grams, Kilograms.  This is very important because in the USA some people need their postal scale to display 5 1/4 pounds as "5lb : 4.0oz" and some people need it to be shown as "5.250lb" or even "84.0oz".  Likewise for Kilograms some people need 2.5 kilograms to be displayed as "2.500kg" and some people need it to be shown as "2500g". The KD-7000 is the standard by which all other kitchen and office scales will now be judged.  There is simply no better mid-sized scale for your home, office or kitchen.
