Adam Equipment Highland HCB123 portable milligram scale is truly a unique digital scale rattling the scales industry and having other scale manufacturers running. Highland offers so many features, value at an affordable price. Adam's HCB123 offers 120g weighing capacity with readability to 1 milligram. What makes the Adam Highland so unique is the scale comes with both the RS-232 and USB interface as standard equipment. Competitor models like the Ohaus Scout, A&D EJ Series, Acculab Vicon and Sartorius AY scales gouge you by making you purchase their optional RS-232 or USB module for $69 or more. You have to pick either RS-232 or USB with the competition but with Highland you get BOTH RS-232 and USB interfaces. To make things better the HCB123 comes with both the RS-232 and USB cable. One thing the HCB doesn't come with is the data communication software but you can buy AdamDU data collection software or WinWedge balance communication software.

Adam Equipment HCB123 is a low cost milligram scale since it's weigh sensor is built using strain gauge technology.  The strain gauge can give you good weighing results for weighing static loads, but can drift much more due to temperature variations caused by excitation energy used with a load cell strain gauge weigh sensor.  Typically if you trickle say like table salt in small quantities to the weighing platform the auto tracking software thinks it is drift in the loadcell verses actually weight added to the weighing pan and the weighing results don't change. You'll get better performance, linearity and repeatability with an electromagnetic weigh sensor like those found in the Adam PGW253e, A&D FX-120i or Scientech ZSP150 but this weigh sensor design cost more money.  If you're on a tight budget and your weighing results aren't for a super critical application then the AE HCB123 might be your best choice.
