If you're going to have a gold party, or if you'd like to buy and sell gold, silver or other precious metals, there are several essential items you'll need.  One of them is a jewelry scale like a Mettler Legal for Trade Digital Scale.  Weigh up to 610 gram x 0.01 grams with a Mettler Toledo JL602-G/LA01.  NTEP mode features a less precise readability with 0.1 gram increments.

The biggest selling point for the Mettler Toledo's JL602-G/LA01 other than the prominent Mettler-Toledo name is this scale operates on either AC Adapter of four (4) AA batteries.  We get numerous complaints from customers that buy the A&D EK-1200i since the A&D does not run off of standard batteries, but instead you must buy A&D special NiMH Battery Pack for an additional $160.00.  Yep it is crazy in a day when you can go buy 4 - AA NiMH rechargeable batteries at Walmart for under $20 A&D designs their scale so you can only use their $160 NiMH Battery Pack. 

If you are always going to plug your scale into a power receptacle you might want to select the EK-1200i since we get a lot of phone calls from people unable to follow the instructions of the JL602-G/LA01 and configuring the scale. Please watch our video below "How to calibrate Mettler Toledo JL-602" and this will give you an idea what you need to do to configure the scale. The EK1200i is much, much easier to calibrate and configure. While the JL-602-G/LA01 displays to 0.01g the JL602 is only approved for 0.1g. The EK1200i is approved for 0.1g and weighs up to 1200g.

If you are unable to follow instructions you should plan on calling a local scale company and expect to pay around $300 for the service call. Configuring a scale is not a warranty issue so any service call is something you need to pay for out of your pocket. The A&D EK-1200i is much easier to calibrate and configure and we also have a video on the EK1200i here for you to see for yourself.

So if you need a digital scale that works off standard batteries and need to have a scale that reads to 0.01g the JL602-G/LA01 is the choice.
