Ohaus Voyager VP4102DCN precision balance with Moveable FineRange™ is a dual range precision balance.  In the fine range weighing samples from 0-1000g in capacity you'll have 0.01 gram readability.  Once the cumulative weight on the weighing pan exceeds 1000 gram the readability drops by a factor of ten or 0.1 gram readability for samples 1000g-4100g.

One design issue you should be aware of with the Voyager Series when the balance is used in the non-NTEP mode is the inability to disable the use of internal calibration.  The Ohaus line is the only balance we know of that does not allow you to disable the internal calibration.  Where this becomes an issue is most calibration A2LA Certification Calibration companies will NOT calibrate a balance unless the internal calibration can be disengaged.  If your balance is going to require A2LA Certification the Sartorius CPA202S Precision Balance may be a better choice.

Another design issue with the Ohaus Voyager 0.01g and 0.1 toploading balances is the windshield surrounds the platform implemented to deflect air currents from disturbing the weighing pan.  Notice how the windshield wraps around the weighing pan.  Sometimes this causes an obstruction in your weighing application where the item you are weighing "you think is on the platform" but actually the sample is touching the windshield, thus providing the incorrect weighing results.  The Sartorius CPA4202S Balance and the Sartorius GP5202 doesn't have this windshield design and offers a larger weigh pan 7.4" x 8.0" since Sartorius refined their balance so well it needs no windshield.

Voyager Pro Balances are available in both analytical and precision configurations, in a variety of capacities.  The Voyager Pro line of precision balances offers capacities ranging from 210 x 0.001 grams to 8,100 x 0.1 grams.  The analytical balances line offers capacities of 62, 110 and 210 grams and you can review them all at the bottom of this web page.

Before purchasing the Ohaus Voyager with 0.01 gram resolution, check out Sartorius GP5202 precision balance.  For those people looking for the best possible 0.01 gram balance for the money maybe you should consider the Sartorius GP5202.  We feel the GP5202 precision toploader from Sartorius is CLEARLY the best value Precision Weighing Balances has to offer and we have them in stock for immediate delivery.  Ohaus VP4102DCN dual range balances only offer 0.01 readability up to 1000 grams.  When you exceed 1000 grams, the readability drops down to 0.1 grams.

Please be aware that the Sartorius GP5202 precision balance is NOT Legal for Trade.  If your weighing applications require NTEP approval, you may be better off buying an Ohaus Voyager with the Legal for Trade certification.

Voyager Pro Applications

Advanced in applications but not in operation.  With Voyager Pro’s dot matrix display and innovative user interface, balance setup and use is effortless.  For superior weighing performance, Voyager Pro’s AutoCal™ feature automatically calibrates the balance when it senses a temperature change sufficient enough to affect weighing accuracy.  For maximum accuracy, the Voyager Pro Series features 4 analytical modelswith capacities up to 210g with a 0.1mg readability.  The draftshield design provides optimum draft protection from wind currents for superior balance stability and reproducibility even in challenging environments.

Statistical Quality Control (SQC)

The SQC feature is extremely useful during various types of process filling operations when it is desired to monitor and control the process to eliminate under and over filling.  Provisions are made in the balance to accommodate the weight of various packaging methods.  During operation, parameters of the packaged product are set into the balance such as packaging weight, acceptable weight limits and non-acceptable weight limits of the product. These weight limits are identified as +Tl, +T2, NOMINAL and -TI, -T2.  As samples are weighed and stored in the balance, a trend analysis is developed and displayed on the balance.  Up to 25 samples in a batch with up to ten batches are visible on a trend screen for quality control purposes.  Each batch of samples is shown on the display which indicates the maximum/minimum standard deviation and mean values for each batch.  An on going examination of the relative deviation of the samples along with other statistical data can be viewed and is stored.  By observing the results of the VIEW TRACE screen, you can effectively monitor the filling process operation.

Statistics

Statistics are used when it is desired to compare a number of samples and examine the relative deviation of the samples along with other statistical data.  A minimum of three samples are required in this program.  Statistics contains menu options which include: number of samples, maximum, minimum, difference, sum, mean, standard deviation, relative deviation, auto sample, and auto print.  Weighing, Animal Weighing, Check Weighing and Filling application modes can also be linked to the Statistics mode to provide statistical data.

Differential Weighing

Differential weighing stores tare and weight values so samples can be dried or processed and the difference in weight be calculated.  Up to 80 samples can be stored.  The balance has the capability to work with one or two different containers or no container at all.

Density
Four methods of density determinations can be made with the Voyager Pro balance.
The Four Methods of Density Determination: Solids more dense than water Solids less dense than water Liquid density Porous material (impregnated with oil).
An accessory density determination kit is designed to be used with Ohaus Voyager Pro balances.  A built-in reference density table for water at temperatures between 10°C and 30°C is included in the balance software.  When making density measurements, the material should weigh at least 10.0 mg on an analytical balance and 100 mg on a precision balance.
