Caveat Emptor to anyone wanting to use the A&D EK-600i in the field where you don't have access to an AC power receptacle. We received complaints from customers that bought the A&D EK-i Series since the A&D does not run off of standard batteries, but instead you must buy A&D's special NiMH Battery Pack for an addition $140.00. Yep it is crazy in a day when you can go buy 4 - AA NiMH rechargeable batteries at Walmart for under $20 A&D designs their scale so you can only use their $140 NiMH Battery Pack. For those customers where battery power is important we recommend you buy the Mettler Toledo's JL602-G/LA00 (610g x 0.01g) since the Mettler operates on either AC Adapter of four (4) AA batteries. The Mettler JL602-G/LA00 is also and NTEP Approved which is required any time goods are being bought or sold like jewelry while the EK-600i is not Legal for Trade. The A&D EKi Series digital scales are great compact electronic scales, but often times, our customers are looking for a lower cost digital scale. The Acculab VIC-612 is a comparable model for much less money.
For those customers demanding even a lower cost and seeking a simplified digital balance, with less features than A&D's products, we recommend My Weigh brand balances.
My Weigh's i601 that offers 600g x 0.01g or My Weigh's iM01 that offers 1000g x 0.01g and priced much, much lower than the EK600i.

pressing "ON" button to power up scale. All display segments

In addition, user can select the weighing mode(s) needed, and lock
out those weighing modes you desire "not to be use."
Other low cost portable toploading scales offer a small little arrow
pointing to the weighing mode which is silk-screened on the display
face plate. The A&D EKi-Series displays ounces as "oz",
pounds as "lb", etc clearly on the large bright LCD display.
Avoid operator errors in recording data & ensure the correct
unit of measure when multiple weighing modes are enabled with the
EKi-Series.
