"We did not invent the product, but we made it better"
is a famous quote from BASF and we feel the same with our new RS-232
to USB converter kit for Sartorius Balances exclusively found only
at Precision Weighing Balances. Your source for deep discount
prices, operator of the world's most informative website at http://www.balances.com/ dedicated to balances, scales and weighing accessories and your
Authorized Sartorius Dealer.
The balance and scale industry
seems to lag the technology curve so we went searching to give our
customer the products they ask for - a balance with a USB port at a
reasonable price. Many of the balance manufacturers are out of
touch with the times and have their balances designed with a
standard RS-232 port to interface the balance with a PC. The
problem is almost every laptop comes outfitted with a USB port and
not a serial RS-232 port. Those computer gurus savvy enough to
deal with integrating a serial device attached to a PC always needed
to deal with IRQ conflicts. Choose USB and say goodbye to IRQ
and Com port conflicts.
Our RS-232 to USB converter kit
follows the http://www.balances.com/ business philosophy. Deliver the goods the customer wants even
if you need to work outside of the box and find another vendor to
supply the components to make things happen. Of course the
solution also has to incorporate KISS (keep it simple stupid).
Yes - USB is the easiest way to interface a peripheral with a
PC.
Some scales on the market offer you the ability to
purchase an optional module to providing you with either an RS-232
or USB interface (examples would be the Ohaus
Scout Pro Series and the Acculab
Vicon Series). This module cost around $75 and the problem
is you need to decide do you want RS-232 or USB, but not
both.
Our USB to Serial Adapter kit for
Sartorius Balances (part # SARUSB) offers you the best of
both world for less. If you want to interface the Sartorius
Balance with a RS-232 serial port you simply disconnect the 1 foot
RS-232 to USB cable. Simple, Easy, Flexible and Low Cost is
the name of the game with Precision Weighing Balances' solution. |

Unfortunately for consumers, not all computers come with a 9 pin serial port. Since USB has emerged, many computers have discontinued providing serial ports for RS232 applications. USB to Serial Adapters allow you to connect a serial device such as an electronic weighing scale, to your computer's USB port.

USB technology is fast and efficient, but also compatible with most computer systems in use today. The USB to serial adapter connects your serial device to a USB port providing you with RS232 capabilities.
USB - Serial Adapters can be used with WinWedge or WinCT RS232 data communications software. If your computer is missing a 9-pin serial port, this is the most inexpensive and simple solution.
